ECKLONIA MAXIMA
It begins here.
Ecklonia maxima grows in one of the most dynamic marine environments on the South African coast.
Brown kelps are chemically complex organisms, containing compounds including polyphenols, polysaccharides and pigments that continue to attract scientific interest.
Among them are families of compounds such as phlorotannins, fucoidans and fucoxanthin - studied for their biological and antioxidant properties.
For MĀERENE, this made Ecklonia maxima more than an interesting ingredient.
It made it an extraordinary place to begin.

THE TRANSFORMATION
The kelp is only the beginning.
Thalassoceuticals® isn't simply an extract of kelp added to a formulation.
We begin with Ecklonia maxima and subject it to a carefully controlled, weeks-long fermentation process.
Over that time, microorganisms and their enzymes transform the material around them.
